Be Proactive and Take Control

Most people do not go to any sort of health care professional unless they are sick or have a pain that will not go away. Most health-related treatments are reactive to get the patient back to what they would consider being better or what they are used to feeling.

The real benefit of taking care of yourself happens when you adjust your thinking. Stop thinking of practices, such as acupuncture, as curative for what is ailing you. Even when you are “feeling fine,” as most people would describe their current state, the benefits of acupuncture are so extensive that you will improve your health and feel better than you ever thought you could. Proactive action along with positive energy will have you feeling better than you have in years.

It is no accident that one of our locations is within CrossFit Nine7. CrossFit Athletes are among the strongest and toughest competitors around. CrossFit Athletes such as Meg Reardon include acupuncture as a part of their routine. Treatments are not just to help to heal from an injury. Acupuncture is a great way to help to recover from a tough workout and even help to position your mind and body to be stronger overall.

We had discussed how acupuncture is popular with marathon runners. You will often see tents or stations at a race’s finish line with licensed acupuncturists ready to treat the athletes that cross the finish line.

We are not saying that you need to be a trained or professional athlete to benefit from acupuncture. These examples show that those who take their health and wellness seriously understand the benefits of being proactive. They understand how you do not need to wait to be sick or injured to do something to help yourself feel better.

Improving your health is also not only about the physical. Overall improvement is also about the emotional. A strong and healthy body will give you the ability to work hard, play hard, and even do the near-impossible, such as keeping up with your kids. Our emotional health is just as important. Our bodies give us the ability to do great things, but our minds and spirit are the authors of those thoughts, ideas and desires.

Maintaining your health and your outlook on life are not things confined to an annual wellness checkup or a schedule dictated by an insurance company. If you are serious about taking control of your life and improving your life’s quality, get out of the reactive mindset and improve your life on your terms.
